In spite of the blockbuster show on the 23rd featuring DJ Premier (of Gang Starr) and Lord Finesse with Toronto's own DJ Law setting the party off, DJ Law gives us this mix containing all Premier's production credits from the year 2000 and beyond. Last week Law dropped Best of Premier 2012-13 with all of Premos most recent projects. Look out for Best of Gang Starr as well as Best of Premier 2000 &before which he said would be released in the weeks leading up to the show. Heres the link..

So I was digging up some old Busta Rhymes yesterday when I came upon this mix from DJ R-Con, highlighting an archive of both early and more recent Busta tracks. Including Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See, Flipmode meets Def Squad, and the more recent classic, being Look At Me Now. Download link below.
DJ JS-1 never disappoints with his DJing abilities from mixing and scratching to beat-juggling and everything inbetween. My first post in the "Mixtape" section is a JS-1 tape, going through a massive catalog of classic original samples. This mix is a bit different as far as track selection goes. JS-1 takes us on a journey back into time with "Bass-heavy" tracks, anywhere from Outkast and Ice Cube to oldschool Easy E, and Sir Mix Alot (not Big Butts). Great listen for any avid Hip Hop listener.

Heres another Tribe Called Quest mix, although DJ Mick Boogie drops only B-Sides, remixes and rarities! Great listen for any Tribe fan, includes remixes to The Chase pt 2, Excursions, and the remix to Bonita Applebum. Download link is directly below!

I love tracking these mixes down, especially when its from a reputable DJ, cause you know they'll play only good stuff, the mix will be full of scratching, mixing and juggling, I cant stand more when you search for podcasts, you find a really intriguing headline or tracklist and then you play the mix and its just some person fading in tracks one after another...thats not a real mix tape!! I have to emphasize that because for anyone who is used to that type of mixing ability is in for an exciting discovery which can be found in every mixtape highlighted on this page. Enjoy

Back in 1997 Tony Touch released a compilation which was more less a giant mixtape that had 5 of the dopest and highly ranked producers/DJs at the time being Mister Cee, DJ Premier (of Gangstarr), Tony Touch, PF Cuttin, and DJ Evil Dee (of Da Beatminorz, and Black Moon) giving us a dose of real Hip Hop at its finest!. Download available, Parts 1 and 2.

What a mix right here! Any underground/90's head this is for you! Back in 1994 Premier did a radio show, much like todays Headquarterz Serius XM radio show (Hosted by Premo) which was entitled WBLS Thunderstorm Radio. Theres two parts to this entire tape, A side includes classics like a cut-up and mixed Notorious B.I.G.'s Kick In The Door, aswell as Mobb Deeps Shook Ones pt 2. On the B-side you can find more underground, (and undergrounds an under-statement) tracks like Justice System - Dedicated To Bambaata (Diamond D remix) and other tracks from Grand Puba and early Tribe Called Quest. Great tape right here!! I dont have a download link but you can listen off of the Sound Cloud website and perhaps download a "Soundcloud to Mp3" converter. (It does exist!)

One of my favorite producers/DJ's of all time, DJ Premier has countless classics from not only his Gang Starr archive of records but also the contributions he made to such timeless albums like Nas' Illmatic, O.C..'s Jewels, Notorious B.I.G.'s Ready To Die among others. DJ Doc Jnr throws down the best of DJ Premier...Enjoy!

This mixtape is the definition of real hip hop coming from the soul. Lauryn Hill's debut "The Mis-Education of Lauryn Hill" was one of the most moving, spiritual and motivating albums for any individual. J Period released a double mixtape first side named "Fire" and the second side being called "Water" this mixtape is not only hard to find, but a great listen to all music fans of ANY genre. The experience goes past favoritism and truely will open your mind.
I have to apologize, I was forced to take down the links as the file source was deleted, but Im trying to track down an alternative download source
Pr...Pr..Premier..Premier...DJ Premier! Live from SeriusXM's Headquarterz, from early January around the time Common's The Dreamer, The Believer was dropped, Premier hosts the radio release party. Yes! yes! yes! yes! haha. I downloaded this mix probably over a year ago and only discovered it in my library not too long ago and after listening, I thought it was only right to pay tribute to one of the realest underground west coast Hip Hop groups...Hieroglyphics..Consisting of Opio, A-Plus, Casual, Pep Love, Tajai, and Domino. DJ Emynd shows us their early catalog aswell as some more recent material. Enjoy

One of my favorite Hip Hop production super-groups of all time, "Da Beatminerz". Members include DJ Evil Dee (fellow member of Black Moon and the whole Boot Camp Clik) and Mr. Walt. This duo has made countless tracks for artists like Dilated Peoples, Big Daddy Kane, KRS One, Naughty By Nature and so many others. Heres DJ Rugged One giving us a full taste of gritty underground Beatminerz production.

I like to track down alot of Best Ofs (of) artists because not only does it give me a pretty wide selection of tracks by that artist but it chances are theres going to be a couple tracks Ive never heard and thats what gets me digging and when you finally come upon that gem, it feels so rewarding listening to it on repeat, (I know you're probably thinking thats a bit repetitive) haha but dont act like you've never had your favorite track of the month or week or day on repeat before...we all have, dont worry! With that being said look out for alot of B-sides and even new more recent Cypress Hill on this mix. This guys a real cool dude too!

Toronto's own DJ Law takes us back to the Golden Era of real Hip Hop with Best of Boot Camp Clik.
When I first tracked this mixtape down, it was on repeat..to say the least for weeks on end. Law takes us through the catalog of early Boot Camp, including Black Moon, Smif N Wessun, OGC, and Buckshot. Filled with scratching, cuts, and on point mixing, Law is sure to never disappoint!

As an avid authentic mixtape fan, DJ Just Dizle never disappoints, from his track selection to his verse juggling abilities, hes sure to never be under-ranked. Here is a mix he does as a tribute to one of hiphop golden era veterans Erick Sermon.

My second installation of a classic mix comes from a DJ by the name of JS-1. This guy has a wide catalog and variety for any music listener. His cuts and mixing are on point and you could easily rank him up there with DJs such as Tony Touch, DJ Premier, DJ Evil Dee, DJ Muggs etc. This mix entails all the samples used to make the classic Hip Hop tracks we're used to bumping...enough of these tracks I didnt even know samples existed to.
